The Game is Over – Reggae Force
After exciting fans with a couple of singles in 2017 and 2019, Reggae Force has kept us waiting a long time for their third release ahead of the outfit’s debut album. Reggae enthusiasts have been kept ticking over by the live jams and rehearsals the band have treated us to. These have garnered thousands of views on social media but finally, we get another chance to hear their studio voices with The Game is Over.
The single’s stars
Montego Bay’s very own Wendel Ferraro, better known by the musical moniker Junior Jazz inspired by his eclectic taste and abilities takes firm control of this new hit. Experiences singing in Church choirs, touring with Jamaican stars like Gregory Isaacs and Beres Hammond and making an international impact as a solo artist have led him to the front of Reggae Force and to the confidence and nuance with which his vocals navigate both the bouncy rhythm and the touching, righteous lyrics.
Aston Barrett Jr. joins him on the drums. The son of The Wailers’ bass player Aston “Family Man” Barrett keeps the rhythm of roots reggae rock flowing in The Game is Over, a fitting track for the march towards “taking control of our destiny”.
Peter Williamson’s veteran keyboard skills will keep your ears just as engaged as Junior Jazz’s lyrics do your mind. He finds the perfect moments to combine with the vocals and then give them room to breathe, providing the perfect condiment for this reggae food for thought.
Not least of all is Alaina Reed on bass who turned the inspiration she found in Bob Marley and the Wailers’ message into a sensational skill on the strings that she showcased alongside talents like Leroy Sibbles, Red Fox, Wayne Stoddart and Tanya Stephens. Her groove is deep and will be the last part of The Game is Over to keep playing in your head.
Exciting things ahead
Fans who have been starved for new music from Reggae Force since their three pre-pandemic singles Calling, Ticket to Ride, and Don’t Worry will have their mouths watering at what’s to come on the band’s debut album Tune In.
There are few acts who manage to combine a conscious message that has the strength of Reggae Force’s lyrics with the undeniable roots, rock, reggae sound that the band is masters of.
The analog, dirty sound means their reggae has the feel that all of the genre’s premier bands should, keeping true to the sonic legacy of their inspirations whilst being brave enough to build on it where it suits.
The band has the right amount of edge with a classic sound that’s set to thrive in the modern day.
We already know how well they do their thing live, having previously shown their talent on stage. It’s now great to hear them at home again. Check them out on all streaming platforms.

On August 1, 2019, Reggae Force released their third titled Calling. Calling is an example of roots, rock, reggae at it’s finest. It sings of a message needed in today’s world to slow down & go inside your self for the truth about life & a real piece of mind. The grooving, laid back bass line is played by none other than Aston “Familyman” Barrett of Bob Marley & the Wailers. The signature guitar leads are played by Junior Marvin, also of Bob Marley’s original crew.
